GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The RTA announced that Winter Service will begin tomorrow, Jan. 25 with route and schedule adjustments on select bus and streetcar lines amid freezing temperatures. The 202—Airport Express now will serve stops on Poydras Street from Loyola to Convention Center Boulevard while select Elk Place routes serve only dedicated stops. WDSU
- ➤ Governor Jeff Landry has declared a state of emergency as an arctic blast will drop temperatures to the teens and 20s into early next week. Residents are urged to protect plants, pets, people and pipes — transportation officials prepare for potential road closures. FOX 8

- ➤ Northlake Christian official Michael VanderVelde, also dean of students, refereed playoff games (including the national championship on Jan. 19) and credited thorough pregame meetings for his success.
