- ➤ The Krewe of Antheia marched in Slidell's first daytime parade of the season on Feb. 1 and drew a large crowd despite chilly weather. Residents enjoyed ample sunshine during the festive event. The Times-Picayune
- ➤ Krewe of Bogue Falaya will parade through Covington on Mardi Gras Day Tuesday, Feb. 17, featuring 23 floats, 600 riders, eight bands, and 10 groups while Tim Lantrip serves as Grand Marshal. A Lundi Gras event starts at 4 p.m. Monday at Bogue Falaya Park (route details pending). WDSU
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Louisiana public school special education classrooms are now required to install cameras (a new measure from the education department) to better monitor activities and enhance student safety. FOX 8
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ SSA defeated Hannan 1-0 on Feb. 2 at Hawk Field when senior Ainsley Schwing scored from a corner kick by Bailey Tardo — spoiling Hannan’s unbeaten season; postseason pairings will be released today. The Times-Picayune
- ➤ Saints quarterback Tyler Shough gave a one-on-one interview on Feb. 2 where he discussed gearing up for his first Mardi Gras and upcoming NFL games. He offered insights on the team’s offseason plans (per team officials). FOX 8
- ➤ The Saints will play their first NFL regular season game in France on Oct. 26 against the Browns. Owner Gayle Benson said lowering season ticket prices honors the deep Louisiana & France connection, and team officials expect many fans to travel for the historic match. Louisiana Radio Network
- ➤ Brother Martin Crusader Cheer Team won first place at the UCA Nationals Large Varsity Coed Division II at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World, earning its third straight title and scoring 10 points more than the runner-up — a strong finish from athletes representing schools.
