- ➤ Delta Utilities has launched the DU Cares program with United Way to help customers pay natural gas bills; the program offers up to $250 in one-time aid to eligible households and has already received 300 applications & is funded with up to $200,000 until additional funding is available. - ➤ Funeral services for Deputy Christopher Ohlmeyer are scheduled soon (official details on time and place are forthcoming) as community members prepare to honor his service. FOX 8
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser & tourism leaders will travel to Paris in October ahead of the Saints-Browns NFL game to host a week of events aimed at promoting Louisiana, strengthening French immersion programs, and attracting international visitors. - ➤ Drew Brees is expected to earn a first-ballot induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2026; the historic honor announced Feb. 5 boosts pride among local Saints fans plus community supporters. FOX 8
- ➤ New Orleans Saints star Drew Brees was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Thursday, Feb. 5 in San Francisco. The honor marks his 20 seasons with the team and celebrates his lasting mark on local sports. WDSU
- ➤ Fontainebleau High's standout infield player McKinley Mardis, a junior who hit .431 with 26 RBIs, 22 runs and nine doubles, signed on Jan. 24 to play softball at Bishop State Community College in Mobile, Ala. Her family was present at the signing. The Times-Picayune
