  • Samantha Carroll, executive director of the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board, said that the Lenten season drives a surge in seafood consumption as locals cook at home and dine out on Fridays, boosting sales and influencing pricing (with even alligator included as part of the fish category).  WWL-TV

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Crawfish vendors report that the slow start caused by cold weather and labor delays is easing as supply and prices are set to return to normal by Easter. Local businesses now show improved volume and lower prices as the weather warms up.  The Times-Picayune

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Feb. 21, the PJP II Jaguars won a 2-0 penalty kick shootout against Calvary Baptist at Lester Latino Field. Goalkeeper Lilly Juneau made seven key saves to secure the win and the team will face Newman in the state championship on Feb. 25 at Strawberry Stadium.  The Times-Picayune
  • Northlake Christian advanced to the Division IV state championship after beating Pope John Paul II 3-1 in overtime on Feb. 21, with sophomore Harry Wall scoring twice, including the winning penalty. The Wolverines (19-4-3) will face Ascension Episcopal at Strawberry Stadium on Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m.  The Times-Picayune
  • Five St. Tammany girls basketball teams advanced after winning their first-round games on Feb. 19 and will host playoff contests on Monday at varying times (from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.) in Divisions I through III.  The Times-Picayune
