- ➤ Firefighters contained a forest fire on Sunday along I-12 between Abita Springs and Lacombe amid dry, windy conditions. Traffic reopened Monday, but officials urge residents to avoid outdoor burning as drought conditions persist. FOX 8

- ➤ A bill filed for the upcoming legislative session would let the Department of Agriculture seize contaminated imported shrimp — expanding safeguards beyond the current role of the Department of Health.
