  • A $223,475 Easy 5 lottery ticket sold at Stop 2 Shop on Robert Boulevard remains unclaimed after the Sept. 27, 2025 drawing + the winner has until 5 p.m. on the expiration day to claim it per Lottery rules.  AN17

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Delta Utilities said it is urging customers to opt for levelized billing to smooth out rising gas costs caused by recent cold weather and high prices, as state regulators advanced an audit and approved cost spreading over several months + easing the burden on seniors and others struggling with bills.  The Times-Picayune

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A total lunar eclipse will take place on Tuesday, Mar. 3, 2026, across southeast Louisiana. The Moon enters Earth’s shadow at 2:44 a.m. (totality begins at 5:04 a.m.), and skies are expected to remain mostly clear with patchy fog, offering a unique viewing experience.  WDSU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Jeff Landry announced tax changes approved over a year ago that reduce the state income tax rate from 4.25% to 3% and boost the standard deduction, saving middle-class families nearly $500. Taxpayers saw these changes on 2025 returns + adjustments to corporate tax aim to spur new business investment.  The Times-Picayune
  • A major water main break led the Sewerage and Water Board to begin replacing pipe on South Claiborne, with partial reopening expected by Friday. The board noted the incident occurred on Wednesday, Feb. 25.  WWL-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Northlake Christian boys soccer team won a state title with a 2-0 victory over Ascension Episcopal on Feb. 25 at Strawberry Stadium — ending a 7-year drought and sparking celebrations among players and coach Nick Chetta.  The Times-Picayune
