- ➤ The 96-year-old Chef Menteur Pass Bridge, a *vital route* for the Lake Catherine community, closed yesterday after structural cracks were found, adding 25 minutes to commutes. - ➤ Slidell girls basketball qualified for the state semifinals—a first for the school—after defeating Denham Springs 56-38 on Feb. 26. The Tigers will face Prairieville on March 5 at 8 p.m (Southeastern’s University Center) following an historic nets cutting celebration. The Times-Picayune
