COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Tourism group Visit the Northshore shared survey results with the St. Tammany Tourist Commission on Feb. 24, showing local residents want more hotels, resorts & sports venues to boost tourism. The survey gathered opinions from about 200 residents as part of a 10-year master plan process. The Times-Picayune
- ➤ Volunteer Gina Snyder has handled 20 years of ticket sales for Youth Service Bureau's Chef Soiree (supporting local youth) on March 15 at Bogue Falaya Park in Covington, where food samples, live music and fireworks will feature along with a Ford raffle. The Times-Picayune
- ➤ On Feb. 28, the Slidell Elks Lodge honored five first responders at its 32nd annual Law & Order Program. The awards event also included a forum where local and national representatives discussed community issues (dedicated to longtime member Pat Massarini). The Times-Picayune
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Pope John Paul II High School held a groundbreaking in Slidell this week for a new building that will add classrooms, an auxiliary gym, expanded performing arts space, and a flexible learning room. Officials (including Mayor Randy Fandal) attended as the school grows to serve east St. Tammany Parish families. WDSU
- ➤ St. Paul's senior Connor Russo, drum major and student council secretary, won DAR’s Good Citizens Award from the DAR Wharton Chapter for his leadership and service through Wolves for Wellness; his family and school staff watched the honor being presented. The Times-Picayune
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry is urging voters to approve Constitutional Amendment 3 on May 16 to permanently raise teacher pay with $2,200 for teachers and $1,100 for support staff. He calls on lawmakers to educate the public on the amendment’s benefits – boosting salaries without raising taxes. WWL-TV

- ➤ A boil water advisory affecting major parts of East Bank triggered by a South Carrollton water main break has been canceled. Officials report that water quality has returned to safe levels. FOX 8
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ On March 10, Pearl River's softball team clinched a 12-0 win over St. Scholastica with standout plays from sophomore Riley Rudesill’s first home run and junior Makenzie Picasso’s strong pitching, helping the Rebels secure their third shutout in seven games. The Times-Picayune
