- ➤ Patrons helped shape new programs as the South Slidell Branch will hold a 2-hour American Mahjong lesson on April 3 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The library asks voters to approve a 4.35 mill replacement plan to lower rates by about $3 million a year for projects like a new Lacombe branch and a Slidell branch expansion — if the vote fails, funding stops in January 2026. - ➤ A video captured a car driving the wrong way on the Causeway Bridge in foggy conditions on Friday just before 8 a.m.—the driver turned around after two miles and was stopped by a police officer who issued traffic citations before a family member drove him away. WDSU

- ➤ Crawfish prices have slightly increased with live crawfish at $3.99 per pound and boiled at $6.45 per pound due to low supply and strong demand from Lent—a rise of about 50 cents per pound, Laney King of The Crawfish App said. King added that with forecasted sunshine and mild weather next week—a surge in crawfish supply may help lower prices. WDSU

- ➤ Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop in Slidell today with a risk of tornadoes, damaging winds, and hail—winds may gust above 40 mph from late morning to early evening. The National Weather Service also noted that cooler, mostly sunny conditions will follow on Sunday and Monday. WWL-TV

- ➤ Slidell will launch a glass recycling program on April 12 at Heritage Park where residents can drop off glass between 9 a.m. and noon, and the collected glass will be sent to a St. Bernard facility for coastal restoration. In nearby Folsom, a new garbage contract raises trash bills to $26 per month through 2029 and a petition to ban fireworks is set for public input on April 14 — city officials note the pricing remains competitive. - ➤ Early voting for the March 29th election begins today and runs until next Saturday (March 22nd) as voters face four constitutional amendments challenged in court for deceptive ballot language.
