- ➤ Friends of the Library of West St. Tammany, a nonprofit that has supported community literacy for nearly 50 years, is asking local business owners and neighbors for help in finding a new home as its current 2,500 sqft facility (1301 N. Florida St.) will end its lease this July. The Times-Picayune
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Homeschool families are using the mountain bike trails at Bogue Chitto State Park as an outdoor classroom near Franklinton today to combine physical education with learning. The trails, developed by Louisiana State Parks and NORBA, encourage healthy lifestyles — a local effort supported by Lt. Gov. Nungesser. AN17
- ➤ Representatives from Southeastern Louisiana University’s Communications and Media Studies returned from last month’s Southeast Journalism Conference at Georgia Highlands College with awards, including local student Kendrick Allen from Slidell (tied for fifth in Television Feature Reporter) along with winners from Gretna and Gramercy. - ➤ Repairs to Willow Street's water main break are set to begin soon as SWBNO (the local water board) faces pressure from the mayor and council to restore service for residents. FOX 8
- ➤ Lacombe's fire department improved its rating on Monday by boosting staffing, training, response times and water distribution, which could lower premiums for nearby homeowners. Chief Michael Geissler also introduced Marshall, a 5-month-old Dalmatian puppy, to strengthen community ties + support morale at the station. WWL-TV
