- ➤ A sergeant with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s office died early Sunday when a suspect’s vehicle struck him near the Oak Harbor exit on I-10 as he set up a spike strip—New Orleans Police said the car later crashed near I-10 and Crowder Blvd with an officer treated and two juveniles taken to hospital while the adult driver was arrested. - ➤ St. Tammany Sergeant Grant Candies, a decorated deputy and former Marine who had saved lives, was killed on Sunday when he deployed a spike strip on I-10 near Oak Harbor and was struck by a fleeing car driven by 17-year-old Adrian Waughtal from Slidell, who was arrested on charges of aggravated flight, first degree murder and attempted first degree murder—his family remembered him as a devoted husband, loving father and cherished son.
