COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Voters in St. Tammany Parish approved a millage that will fund library services for 15 years. The vote supports renovations at the Slidell Branch on Robert Boulevard + a new replacement branch in Lacombe to be built.  WDSU

CRIME NEWS

  • An 18-year-old former Northshore student was arrested on a terrorizing charge after he allegedly made online threats against his former school and was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center after a parent reported concerning social media posts that prompted an alert from the Pearl River Police Department.  WWL-TV
  • At 2 a.m. on March 30th, LPSO responded to an incident on Pleasant Knoll Drive when 38 year old Darren Jack hit a house, a light pole, and a mailbox before attempting to flee; he was arrested and charged with hit & run, resisting an officer, driving under suspension, insurance required, possession of marijuana and operating while intoxicated.  AN17
  • Picayune Police arrested Ivan Mitchell in Slidell on Saturday evening — he left the scene at 2:44 p.m. on Rouse Road after a fatal shooting.  WDSU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Turnout in the March 29 election was 21% statewide — nearly double the 11% seen in the previous vote — and voters rejected four amendments pushed by Gov. Landry, with each losing by more than 60%.  WDSU
