- ➤ Blake Pontchartrain recounted how the 24-mile Lake Pontchartrain Causeway was built between May 1955 and Aug. 30 (costing $57 million) and opened to 600 cars on its first day; the bridge has always had a toll. The Times-Picayune
- ➤ The Lamb of God Lutheran Church is hosting Kite Day on April 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 57210 Allen Road where families and friends can enjoy kite flying, gift-card raffles, and refreshments while bringing their own kites as supplies are limited. The Times-Picayune

- ➤ At the LHSAA Championships on March 28 at the Pontchartrain Center, athletes from St. Tammany Parish earned 13 state titles, with teams from Lakeshore, Pope John Paul II and Covington posting runner-up finishes + setting new records. The Times-Picayune
- ➤ The Pelicans lost to the Sacramento Kings 117—113 Friday night as rookie Maxime Raynaud scored 28 points and Jeremiah Fears also had 28, leaving the Pelicans with seven straight losses; they will host Orlando Sunday night. FOX 8
