- ➤ The city will open its new skatepark in John Slidell Park on April 15 for skateboarders to practice from dawn until about 9 p.m.—parking is available behind the park gym. The $800,000 project was delayed several months by poor weather—it is built near the new pickleball courts. The Times-Picayune
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Accidents blocked the left lane on I-10 West at Bonnet Carre Spillway Bridge at mile marker 217 and the right lane at mile marker 212 while a serious crash on Airline Highway near Oswald Avenue in Laplace around 6 a.m. Tuesday nearly extended the drive from Metairie to Laplace to an hour so drivers are advised to take alternate routes via US-61 — causing heavy delays. - ➤ Gov. Landry will unveil his plan to lower insurance premiums today at 10:00 a.m. after a poll of 500 residents found 85.4% rate the insurance market as poor or very poor and many blame insurers and trial lawyers for the rising costs. Louisiana Radio Network
- ➤ OPSO Sheriff Susan Hutson is making her case for renewing the millage today—she says that the tax is needed to support essential community services. WWL-TV
- ➤ State officials said delays at OMV sites eased after the outdated mainframe was updated on Thursday, ending outages that stretched for over a month and reducing long wait times for driver’s licenses and registrations (tag agents noted the system performed well on Friday, Saturday, and Monday).
