- ➤ St. Tammany Parish Library invites local artists to design a library card marking the country’s 250th anniversary. Entries are accepted until April 27 (voting runs from May 1 to May 7) and the winner will be revealed on May 11 with limited cards available in July. The Times-Picayune
- ➤ Hope House will honor seven local champions during its Champions for Children Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. April 22 at The Greystone in Mandeville, recognizing advocates who support children and families through their work with the nonprofit. The Times-Picayune
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ After Easter, crawfish prices drop by about 50¢ per pound, with live crawfish now selling for under $3 per pound, according to cofounder Laney King of the Crawfish app. Local seafood shops (including restaurants) are expected to offer these lower prices through the weekend. - ➤ Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA) is a free 23-week after school program open to seventh- through 12th-grade students in St. Tammany and Tangipahoa parishes that connects them with business mentors to develop and pitch ideas; applications are accepted online until June 30. The Times-Picayune
- ➤ At Southeastern's 43rd annual Foreign Language Festival, which drew nearly 150 students (including competitors from several parishes), Allison Foster of St. Thomas Aquinas High School took first place in Spanish Recitation I. AN17

- ➤ Colorado State University forecasts a quiet hurricane season as El Niño returns, predicting 13 named storms, 6 hurricanes and 2 major hurricanes that bring relief for local residents, with updated forecasts on June 10, July 8 and Aug. 5. The Times-Picayune

- ➤ Richard Anderson, an Edna Karr alum and early enrollee at LSU, impressed coaches during spring ball after his strong high school state title performance. LSU coach Lane Kiffin expects him to see more playing time on the defensive line this fall. FOX 8
