- ➤ Second Harvest Food Bank announced it lost 37 truckloads of food shipments valued at over $1.1 million due to federal program changes, worsening food insecurity across Louisiana. - ➤ On Tuesday morning, a man riding his bicycle on the Tammany Trace trail in Covington was shot in the arm during an altercation between acquaintances—39-year-old Jermaine Powell was later arrested and charged with second-degree battery and obstruction of justice. WWL-TV

- ➤ On Thursday, the St. Tammany Parish School Board approved a central office staffing revamp that restored the associate superintendent role and generated $6.4M in staff cost savings by not replacing vacant positions, a measure led by Superintendent Frank Jabbia. Steve Alfonso will add duties as the new associate superintendent with a $15K raise (effective July 1) after a 650-student enrollment drop and funding uncertainties prompted the changes. - ➤ Bruce Greenstein returns as health secretary after resigning in 2013 over a contract probe - he will now manage the health department's $21 billion budget and work with the surgeon general on programs such as Medicaid and disease prevention. - ➤ Three Louisiana state senators are proposing Senate Bill 2 to ban fluoride in public water systems, a move that New Orleans health director Jennifer Avegno says will raise health care costs and harm public health.
