ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Slidell police are investigating a serious crash near Weilwood Drive in the West Hall area and have closed the road—drivers are advised to use an alternate route until the investigation concludes. WDSU
FINANCE NEWS
- ➤ A $2M Lotto ticket sold in Mandeville remains unclaimed after the April 9 drawing with winning numbers 4, 7, 23, 34, 38, and 39; it was sold at the Circle K store at 4115 Highway 59 and will expire on Oct. 6 (176 days remain to claim). WGNO
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Louisiana State Rep. Delisha Boyd introduced legislation today to strengthen mental health support systems at colleges. The bill would allow schools to contact families directly when a crisis is detected—following the deaths of a Xavier University student and former LSU athlete Kyren Lacy. WDSU
- ➤ Covington Senator Patrick McMath is leading a new health plan in the Louisiana legislative session. His bill (which would ban ultra-processed foods in schools and stop SNAP dollars from being used to buy sodas) also warns about bad seed oils (a risk that can cause long-term health problems). - ➤ Louisiana lawmakers are meeting today in the State Capitol to debate changes to the transportation department, a Make America Healthy Again health plan, and proposals on school pay and auto insurance rates. They will also discuss combining state trust funds to help cover a looming budget shortfall—efforts that could reshape state policies this session. The Times-Picayune
