- ➤ Mayor Randy Fandal said Slidell will get new economic and recreational projects to boost family activities. Norfolk Southern and local partners will expand St. Tammany Trace to connect Heritage and Old Town, upgrade Fremaux Shopping Center with baseball fields and new retail stores, and break ground on a police headquarters in May + further revitalize the community. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ DirectConnect to Southeastern, a partnership between NTCC and Southeastern, is featured in Community College Journal's April/May edition as a model for streamlining transfer pathways for students in the Northshore region. The program helps NTCC students earn certificates and associate degrees before transitioning to baccalaureate studies + strengthens local workforce preparation. AN17
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Hormone therapy prescriptions have risen 86% since 2021 while estrogen patches grow scarce, leaving many local patients to try alternate treatments. Health experts in Covington advise talking with a doctor about switching to different patch types or delivery methods. WWL-TV
