- ➤ Kenner police said Slidell resident Danette Colbert and Harvey man Rickey White were held without bail on second-degree murder charges after Kansas City reporter Adan Manzano died in a hotel while covering Super Bowl LIX, with text messages (showing they called Xanax 'knock out') linking them to a scheme to drug and rob men. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Louisiana lawmakers are debating education bills that could change teacher pay, testing requirements and college scholarships. One measure would require ACT scores for graduation and end some exams while proposals to change TOPS may cost up to 50-million dollars and face funding challenges. WWL-TV

- ➤ The House Natural Resources Committee approved a bill today that makes it a crime to release balloons outdoors, with violators facing fines up to $150 for a first offense. Representative John Illg said the bill is designed to protect wildlife from balloon litter + Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser warned that animals risk getting tangled in or eating balloons. - ➤ Governor Landry testified before the House Insurance Committee in support of HB 576 by Robbie Carter of Amite that would let the insurance commissioner reject auto insurance rates deemed excessive after a 13-4 vote. Insurance Commissioner Temple testified against the measure, saying it would add red tape and could drive insurers out of the state. Louisiana Radio Network
