  • French Quarter Fest draws thousands to French Quarter Park today — the event features live music, local food, and crafts for a lively weekend celebration in town.  FOX 8
  • 2x Grammy winner Irvin Mayfield talked with Whitney Miller about his upcoming performance at FQF on the Abita stage and expressed his excitement for the festival.  WWL-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Louisiana lawmakers advanced Senate Bill 157 on Wednesday to offer six weeks of fully paid parental leave to public school employees + teachers as the measure moves to the Senate finance committee amid concerns from school boards about substitute teacher shortages.  The Times-Picayune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Slidell City Council approved selling the former DISA building on Gause Boulevard to Textron Systems for $3.4 million to reduce maintenance costs & spur local growth. Textron said it will invest $5.3 million for facility improvements and may add jobs when work starts mid-2026, with completion in 2027.  The Times-Picayune
