GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will conduct a test opening of the Bonnet Carré Spillway on Monday, April 21 at 10 a.m.—a move aimed at managing rising Mississippi River levels and assessing whether a full activation is needed to protect metro New Orleans.  WWL-TV
  • Early voting for the May 3 election has begun in Slidell as runoff and special elections will decide local races and issues like tax proposals and charter changes. Early voting continues until Saturday, April 26 — except today when offices are closed for Easter.  WWL-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • State health officials confirmed the first measles case of 2025 in Louisiana involved an unvaccinated adult from the Greater New Orleans area linked to international travel — the patient received treatment and is now in home isolation as officials began contact tracing.  WWL-TV
