- ➤ On April 30 at 8:30 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 near the US Highway 190 exit that killed 30-year-old Tyler B. Israel from Arabi—he was unrestrained while the other driver remained uninjured and toxicology tests continued. AN17
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Sarah Blackmon, a 40-year-old Slidell resident, was sentenced to 40 years in prison on April 21 after pleading guilty to manslaughter for her role in a fellow inmate’s drug overdose death at the city jail—she received concurrent five-year sentences for other charges. AN17
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Jeff Landry signed an executive order today banning the use of SNAP funds to buy sodas and candy—recipients must now use their own money for these products.
