On April 30, Louisiana installed its first two Safe Haven baby boxes on the northshore, one at Olde Towne Slidell's Fire Station 11 and one in Covington at the fire station on North Jefferson Street to give parents a safe, anonymous option in times of crisis.

The climate-controlled boxes trigger an alarm when opened—ensuring quick response from local fire officials.

Two right lanes on US-90 B Eastbound at O'Keefe Ave are blocked due to a truck fire; congestion is nearing General De Gaulle Drive and the ramp from Annunciation has reopened, so motorists are advised to use an alternate route.

After four years on their Slidell campus, Northshore High School seniors graduated on May 1 at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, marking the end of their high school journey.
