- ➤ Magnolia Park celebrated its 25th anniversary on April 5 when the park opened its baseball season with local families and former players honoring its history—plans include a picnic this summer and a gym get-together later in the year to bring the community together. - ➤ The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office arrested Basil Martin Jr. for stealing $2,203.89 in high-end hair styling equipment from a Covington store on March 7 and he was booked on theft charges while Keith Gutter remains at large after allegedly stealing an extra $1,571.91 on March 10 with another $65 taken from a nearby business—officials ask anyone with information to call 985-276-1331. - ➤ The National Weather Service warns southeast Louisiana will face heavy rain and flash flooding starting this afternoon and lasting into Wednesday morning — Northshore areas like Slidell could see between 4–6 inches of rain with rising river levels stressing low-lying roads. Residents in vulnerable areas are urged to stay alert for sudden water surges and possible road closures. The Times-Picayune

- ➤ Louisiana lawmakers continue to debate auto insurance reform bills aimed at lowering rates, and Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple said last year's property insurance reforms led eight insurers to file for rate decreases. Temple said he will pressure insurance companies to boost competition if lawmakers pass new bills (a move intended to mirror results seen in states like Georgia and Texas). WWL-TV
- ➤ Louisiana residents will need a REAL ID for air travel and to visit federal buildings starting May 7, and nearly 1.25 million of the state’s 3.9 million licenses already meet this rule.
