EDUCATION NEWS

  • Northlake Christian volleyball has a new coach as Lindsey Donovan stepped down after five successful seasons to focus on her family. The school hired experienced club coach Jake Palmer (who has led several Northshore teams) to head the team going forward.  The Times-Picayune

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Saints are set to host the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football in Week 4 — marking the 20th anniversary of the game that reopened the Superdome after Katrina — with season ticket sign-ups available.  FOX 8
  • The New Orleans Saints face a tough two-week stretch in November as they travel to Chicago on Sunday, Nov. 22 to face the Bears and then head to Cincinnati to challenge a Bengals team led by Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase.  WDSU
  • Local high schools report updates in sports; the Country Day Cajuns focus on their Air Raid offense, Brother Martin returns for a Div. I baseball state title game, and St. Charles Catholic advances to a Div. II title game. High school football teams plan transitions as they replace players.  FOX 8
  • Fontainebleau Bulldogs held an intrasquad scrimmage before summer; first-year coach Christopher Womack said players showed good effort but will address mistakes with film review and extra training (noting key runs and defensive plays).  The Times-Picayune
  • Athletes from St. Tammany Parish won four state titles and earned five runner-up medals at the LHSAA Outdoor Track and Field Meet held at LSU’s Bernie Moore Track Stadium from May 7-9 (one Northshore runner set composite state records).  The Times-Picayune
