- ➤ The Bayou Boogaloo Festival celebrates 20 years in Mid-City with a two-venue format that offers fresh local music and arts experiences and is expected to boost community engagement. FOX 8
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Teachers in St. Tammany face a tough choice as Amendment 3, set for tomorrow's vote, would dissolve three constitutional education funds protecting $2 billion from school programs to free money for a permanent pay raise; some educators worry the change may harm student learning. WDSU
- ➤ On Friday, May 15, Slidell High School hosted its annual car parade as the class of 2027 decorated their cars with 'Almost There' playing (their traditional signal) while family, friends and teachers cheered on their transition to seniors. WDSU
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Louisiana Department of Health released new water system grades based on federal and state quality, maintenance, infrastructure and customer satisfaction measures + secondary contaminants. The ratings do not mean immediate health risks, and residents can review local water scores using an interactive chart. The Times-Picayune
- ➤ Heavy rains over the weekend raised water levels above 16.5 ft, prompting Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries to close Pearl River Wildlife Management for safety. Officials expect the site to remain closed until water levels recede. WWL-TV
