- ➤ South Fork Elementary was named a Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase School for the 2025 to 2026 school year after emphasizing a strong teacher-student connection. The school celebrated on May 13 when students wore blue t-shirts around campus. AN17
- ➤ Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond has chosen Mitchell Croatt as the new dean of the College of Science and Technology; he will assume his role on Aug. 1 (pending approval by the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors). AN17

- ➤ Acadian Ambulance celebrates National EMS Week from May 17-23 while marking its 55th anniversary and honoring EMS professionals & support staff who provide lifesaving care. Residents are encouraged to thank these frontline workers during the event. AN17
- ➤ Oceans Healthcare will open a 66-bed behavioral hospital in 2027 at the Ochsner Northshore Medical Complex in Lacombe to offer inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care—helping meet local needs after a facility closed. The Times-Picayune
