- ➤ Operation Cast Iron Cook-Off will take place May 23 in Olde Towne from noon to 4 p.m., where teams using cast-iron cookware will prepare classic Louisiana dishes for judges, with live music, a boutique alley, children’s area + food samplings; proceeds will benefit the Friends of Slidell Police Foundation. - ➤ On May 2, residents drove 600 vehicles with hazardous waste to the St. Tammany Parish Fairgrounds in Covington for disposal under the Keep St. Tammany Beautiful program; Clean Harbors collected and recycled materials like tires, electronics, and chemicals, and the next collection will be held in Slidell in October.
