- ➤ COAST is holding an annual membership drive until June 12 that lets St. Tammany residents aged 18 or older join the Council on Aging at no cost and vote for board directors during an annual meeting scheduled for 10 a.m. on June 26 at the Southeast Louisiana National Wildlife Refuge in Lacombe—candidates include current board members Janice Roussel, Scott Wallace and Marie Antoinette Wright as well as two recommended individuals for vacant board seats. - ➤ A Porsche driver died Monday after he refused to pull over for a deputy near the Airport Road exit of Interstate 12 and crashed into trees in the Lacombe area—he had open warrants. WWL-TV
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Residents in Slidell will enjoy a summer of art and music as the city hosts several events including the 'Fragments of Imagination' exhibition at City Hall with an opening reception on June 20, a live music show at the Slidell Little Theater on May 30, and the Bayou Jam Sunday series at Heritage Park on June 1—while the local public pool, which opened on May 24, continues its seasonal service. - ➤ A utility watchdog called on regulators to demand that Entergy and Cleco share full details after a load-shed event left 100,000 customers without power on May 25th—both companies said they are working with MISO to investigate the outage to help prevent similar events in the future. WWL-TV
