- ➤ The Pontchartrain Conservancy is hosting a free, family-friendly event presented by Entergy that provides hurricane preparedness resources & supplies ahead of the 2025 hurricane season. Locals can gain tools and key safety tips to be ready for future storms. WWL-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The St. Tammany Parish School Board approved a new agreement that will give thousands of teachers a $2,550 raise and other school workers a $1,750 bump starting in August. Union president Brant Osborn and Superintendent Frank Jabbia worked on the deal+ which also gives extra money to coaches and staff who care for school computers+ pushing starting teacher pay to about $52,000. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A new bill will soon make it illegal to drive in the left lane without passing another vehicle and is now at Governor Jeff Landry’s desk after a House vote of 78 to 15. The change removes the previous 10 mph requirement—making it easier for law enforcement to enforce lane rules. Louisiana Radio Network
- ➤ The House Health and Welfare Committee passed a Senate bill to reassign Ivermectin as an over-the-counter drug by a 10—1 vote; Louisiana Surgeon General Dr. Ralph Abraham supports the change to improve access while pharmacists warn it may lead to off-label use complications. The bill now goes to the House floor for further debate. Louisiana Radio Network
