- ➤ Lily Ronquillo, a Lakeshore High School graduate, was awarded a $2,800 Lisabeth Millard Scholarship to attend LSU for biological sciences. Friends of the Library of West St. Tammany relocated to 321 W. 29th Ave in Covington and will debut a new sale on July 17 to 18. The Times-Picayune
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ DCFS Secretary Harris met with Covington’s foster care community earlier to strengthen support for caregivers and children as Louisiana observes National Foster Care Month. The session reviewed current numbers (517 children, 290 homes) and plans to improve the home-to-child ratio under the A Home for Every Child initiative. AN17
- ➤ Children enrolled in SUN Bucks have begun receiving a one-time $120 payment on their SNAP cards for eligible food items. The program, serving about 550,000 children (roughly $66 million in total), will finish distribution by Tuesday and the funds must be used within 122 days. Louisiana Radio Network
