Connie Weeden, 59, of Slidell was released from St. Tammany Parish Jail Saturday after bonding out—she was arrested on May 22 for allegedly sending cash via a cellphone app to escaped inmate Jermaine Donald and now faces a felony accessory after the fact charge.

The Atlantic hurricane season has started today with meteorologists forecasting 13 to 19 named storms, including 6 to 10 hurricanes and 3 to 5 major storms, driven by warm ocean temperatures and reduced federal forecasting staff.

Emergency management officials advise residents to prepare now as peak storm activity is expected from mid-August to October + local agencies report they are fully ready to monitor the situation.
