- ➤ Connie Weeden, 59, of Slidell was released from St. Tammany Parish Jail Saturday after bonding out—she was arrested on May 22 for allegedly sending cash via a cellphone app to escaped inmate Jermaine Donald and now faces a felony accessory after the fact charge. WDSU
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Atlantic hurricane season has started today with meteorologists forecasting 13 to 19 named storms, including 6 to 10 hurricanes and 3 to 5 major storms, driven by warm ocean temperatures and reduced federal forecasting staff. Emergency management officials advise residents to prepare now as peak storm activity is expected from mid-August to October + local agencies report they are fully ready to monitor the situation. - ➤ The Infinity South 15 to 1 volleyball team won the AAU Bayou Region Championship on May 4th — they did not drop a set in all 7 matches. On May 26th, the team finished fifth among 42 teams at the Allstate Sugar Bowl AAU Super Regional and improved their record to 44 to 8. The Times-Picayune
