- ➤ With ten days left in the legislative session ending June 12, lawmakers must approve a state budget that will add funds for rural bridge repairs and pass a DOTD reorganization bill that Governor Jeff Landry supports—Senate President Cameron Henry said progress is good—as they work to improve spending efficiency. - ➤ Louisiana state Rep. Julie Emerson's bills to cut income and sales taxes passed the House on May 7 but were blocked by the state Senate after analysts showed they would create major revenue gaps. District Attorney Collin Sims led the review while District Director Kevin Caillouet said the DA’s role felt intimidating—officials plan a public tour on June 21 and will prepare a report for the Parish Council.
