ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Second Harvest Food Bank said federal cuts in March left them with 100 fewer tractor-trailer loads of food for April to September—forcing officials to use emergency funds and form new vendor partnerships to meet rising need. Food pantries across south Louisiana now face lighter supplies as more low-income families struggle to get enough food this summer. The Times-Picayune
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Slidell High School graduated its Class of 2025 on May 5 at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond—marking a day when students finished their high school journey. The Times-Picayune
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ During the 2024-25 season, 15 local high schools claimed 59 state titles in sports such as volleyball, swimming, wrestling, soccer and powerlifting + local athletes set records and earned individual awards. The state competitions ran from November to May and highlighted the hard work and record-breaking performances of our teams. The Times-Picayune
- ➤ LSU advanced to the College World Series after sweeping West Virginia in the Baton Rouge Super Regional. The Tigers won 12–5 on Sunday — with Steven Milam and Jake Brown each collecting 4 RBIs — and will face Arkansas in the CWS opener next Saturday. WWL-TV
