- ➤ Today the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development opened Segment 2 of LA 3241—an 8-mile, four-lane highway connecting Talisheek to LA 36 near Hickory Creek. The $63 million project is part of a 20-mile corridor that will cut the drive from Bogalusa to I-12 to about 30 miles—once Segment 1 is built. AN17
- ➤ Officials from the Regional Planning Commission are studying whether reducing Front Street from four lanes to three can slow traffic and bring back its small town feel. Local planners and business owners at a meeting at the Slidell Municipal Auditorium discussed proposals that add a median and turn lanes—while keeping the road part of the Carnival parade route—but said final plans and cost estimates are still pending.
