Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 20th of June.
Good morning, Slidell.
🏛️ Government
Louisiana became the first state to let law enforcement disable drones with a law signed by Gov. Jeff Landry.
Specially trained officers can use kinetic & non-kinetic methods near high-risk areas like schools, public events and critical sites, and violators face fines, jail time and drone forfeiture.
The City of Slidell announced that the Gause Boulevard US 190 W crossing will be closed on Saturday, June 21, starting at 7 a.m.—a Norfolk Southern subcontractor will repair a bent rail and repave the approach so motorists should use alternate routes.
🏈 Sports
Covington gymnast Ryan Germany, 13, earned a spot on the Level 7 National Team after finishing in the top 10 at national meets and winning first on floor exercise at Virginia Beach.
She will join the team camp in Tennessee in November—her long training since age 4 and many state titles show her strong focus.
