- ➤ A woman was arrested after deputies found drugs hidden in a children's stuffed animal backpack during a traffic stop on Tuesday, June 17 on Highway 11 near Interstate 12 in Slidell—Sherida Graham, 56, of Sun, was discovered with about 362 grams of methamphetamine, 28 grams of marijuana, two THC vapes and drug paraphernalia and now faces charges for possession with intent to distribute and drug paraphernalia. - ➤ On June 17, deputies stopped a Dodge Challenger in Slidell and arrested 56-year-old Sherida Graham (from Sun) after they found 362 grams of meth hidden in a stuffed animal backpack (with 28 grams of marijuana, two THC vapes and drug paraphernalia) during a traffic stop. WGNO
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A new law will take effect on Aug. 1 that fines drivers $150 for a first offense if they drive less than one mile per hour below the speed limit in the left lane—repeat offenses can lead to fines up to $350 and a prison term of 30 days, with exceptions for safe left turns or yielding to emergencies. State Senator Jay Luneau said the tougher penalties aim to reduce accidents and road rage. Louisiana Radio Network
- ➤ A St. Tammany Parish deputy stopped a speeding driver on Highway 21 and helped him fix his tie when the man said he was having a tough day on his way to a funeral— the moment was later shown on social media. WDSU
