ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A burned semi-truck that caught fire Tuesday night on I-10 East over the Bonnet Carré Spillway remained on the road—blocking the right lane and causing a five-mile backup during Wednesday morning as police and firefighters worked at the scene. The Times-Picayune
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Detectives with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office narcotics unit arrested a Sun woman on Tuesday in Slidell when a traffic stop led to a search of her Dodge Challenger and the discovery of 362 grams of meth hidden in a child’s stuffed animal backpack—other drugs were also found. AN17
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Seventeen deputies graduated from the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office P.O.S.T. Academy on June 23rd — finishing a 20-week course with roughly 800 hours of training and earning awards for academic excellence, physical fitness, and marksmanship. Sheriff Randy Smith said he hopes the graduates return home safely after every shift. AN17
