CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Some of Louisiana's top chefs will compete today (6:30 to 9:30 p.m.) at the Harbor Center in Slidell during the annual Louisiana Seafood Cookoff where 12 chefs prepare seafood dishes for a panel of judges. The winner will earn the title and represent Louisiana in a national cookoff (Aug. 2) against chefs from other states. WDSU
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Louisiana Department of Health confirmed the state’s first human case of West Nile virus in 2025 from Livingston Parish and reported that the patient was hospitalized with complications. Health officials urge residents to protect themselves from mosquito bites using EPA-approved repellents (including DEET) as the virus has been confirmed in 14 parishes this season. AN17
