- ➤ Families affected by gun violence gathered at the second annual Families Against Gun Violence event in Slidell — they called for change and urged local leaders to take steps to prevent future tragedies. WWL-TV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On Sunday, 100 people gathered at Possum Hollow Park to honor victims of an ambush-style shooting on Interstate 10 Service Road on Lundi Gras Day that claimed the lives of Kimberly Hines and Andrew Stiller—losses that spurred the creation of Families Against Gun Violence—as suspect Tyree Quinn fired into an Uber, was found guilty of murder counts last April, and left three other suspects at large. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Pontchartrain Conservancy will host its second annual Dive into Discovery expo at New Canal Lighthouse from July 8 to 12, offering six hands-on STEM activities from noon to 4 p.m. Admission is $15 and includes museum access — the event will let families pilot ROVs, build circuits and learn coding to explore Lake Pontchartrain.
