CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Herbert Davis of Slidell pleaded guilty to armed robbery with a firearm on July 2—following a November 2 bank robbery on Gause Blvd—and was sentenced to 45 years in prison without benefit of parole by Judge Vincent Lobello. AN17
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Jeff Landry signed the App Store Accountability Act which now requires app stores to verify users' ages & obtain parental consent before minors download apps or make in-app purchases. The law also mandates that Ask to Buy be enabled by default & that app stores share minor age data with developers to boost online safety. Louisiana Radio Network
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ North Oaks Medical Center welcomed 17 new residents to its Graduate Medical Education program—nine internal medicine residents and eight transitional year residents from 11 states and three countries—who will train at North Oaks and affiliated facilities to build expertise in various specialties.
