Good morning, Slidell.

A Lakeview family raised urgent safety concerns after a nearly eight-foot-deep sinkhole formed behind their home in late May, prompting them to call on authorities to inspect the area before it affects services and emergency access for their elderly mother.

Textron Systems finalized its purchase of the Slidell Business Campus on Gause Boulevard earlier this month for $3.4 million and will upgrade the facility for expansion.

The deal saves the city over $500K a year in maintenance costs and is expected to create 133 jobs (company growth plan).

Residents planning to fish or boat should check real-time data to safely navigate the shallow areas.

The LDH warns residents to discard or return eggs recalled for possible salmonella if purchased at Kroger or Brookshire Grocery stores (including Super 1 Foods and Spring Market).

The recall covers 1,589,577 dozen eggs produced in Texas between June 6 and July 3 with specific product codes.

Louisiana now has 100 confirmed cyclosporiasis cases as the state Department of Health launched a dashboard to track clusters (Jefferson, Orleans and East Baton Rouge), and officials urge residents to wash produce well while investigating a possible link to recalled iceberg lettuce from central Mexico.

Seven residents became ill and three were hospitalized from a salmonella outbreak linked to white shell and brown cage-free eggs recalled from Kroger and Brookshire stores.

The Louisiana Department of Health advises consumers to check lot numbers (P-1950 or 0840962) and discard or return affected eggs.
