ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday, Louisiana State Police troopers responded to a three-vehicle crash on LA Hwy 36 at LA Hwy 3241 in St. Tammany Parish that killed 39-year-old Jennifer L. Ayo from Covington—who did not wear a seatbelt—when her 2014 Chevy Camaro collided with a 2010 Honda Fit and a 2009 Ford F-150; the Honda driver sustained life-threatening injuries, the Ford driver had moderate injuries, and investigators are awaiting toxicology results. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On Sunday, SLU released a statement saying that analytical chemistry professor Fereshteh Emami was shifted from the Lake Maurepas Monitoring Project to a teaching role— the university stressed its independent research funded by Air Products will continue. State Sen. Bill Wheat said the university will hire an extra worker to boost monitoring and confirmed that public forums will be held to review current findings. AN17

- ➤ Tropical Storm Dexter formed in the western Atlantic on Aug 3 with winds of 45 mph and a pressure of 1002 mb as it moved east-northeast at 12 mph. It is forecast to move away from land and become post-tropical this week—posing no threat to our area. WDSU
