- ➤ A six-year-old boy riding his scooter in his driveway on Northshore Lane near Slidell was struck by an SUV that did not stop, and police later arrested 35-year-old Cody Beaudette on charges of vehicular homicide, reckless operation, felony hit-and-run, and driving with a suspended license—authorities confirmed the boy was pronounced dead at a local hospital. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Engineers and the Causeway Commission completed a $100 million project that raised the southbound railings to 46 inches—this upgrade has stopped vehicles from going overboard and is credited with saving around five lives. Traffic crashes have dropped by a third since the new railings were installed, showing clear signs of improved safety. The Times-Picayune
