- ➤ Hurricane Erin quickly became a category 4 storm with winds up to 130 mph and is moving west-northwest at 20 mph over open water—no impacts are expected in southeast Louisiana. Forecasters say the storm will remain offshore and conditions may change over the coming days. WDSU
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office is joining the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign over Labor Day weekend to add extra patrols that will target impaired drivers—while a $20,000 grant will fund a new accessible kayak launch at Fontainebleau State Park and the tax roll remains open for review until Aug.29 with appeals accepted until Sept.15.
