- ➤ Safe Harbor Northshore announced that its 13th annual Real Superheroes of Safe Harbor Gala will take place Sept. 20 at The Harbor Center near Slidell—running from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.—to fund its domestic violence shelter and campaign for abuse prevention. The Times-Picayune

- ➤ Northshore District Attorney Collin Sims announced Tuesday at Hope House Children's Advocacy Center that a new child exploitation task force was created to track cyber tips in St. Tammany and Washington parishes—local law enforcement and Attorney General Liz Murrill will guide cases to stop online abuse. The Times-Picayune
- ➤ A local mother—who cares for a child with autism—is pleading for the safe return of Bryan Vasquez, who is currently missing. FOX 8

- ➤ Louisiana’s shrimp season is off to a strong start today; however, local shrimpers report active participation has dropped from 20,000 licenses in 2000 to about 3,000 today—rising costs and cheap imports are making it hard to compete. - ➤ Parish officials in western St. Tammany are working on a $5.4 million federal project to filter manganese and iron from the drinking water of about 10,000 customers along La. 1085 and Bootlegger Road near Madisonville—customers may see temporary water discoloration during water line reroutes as the facility is built with major improvements expected by early next year.
