- ➤ Today, Slidell hosted a second-line parade and ceremony that honored the community's perseverance after Hurricane Katrina—local leaders and residents expressed pride in moving forward together. FOX 8

- ➤ On Aug. 29, Tulane beat Northwestern 23-3 in its season opener while wearing green helmets and uniforms to honor the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Coach Jon Sumrall said the team asked to wear white jerseys like those worn after Katrina but was denied—warning opponents not to disrespect New Orleans. WDSU
- ➤ St. Tammany Parish schools finished ten football jamborees as a final warm-up before Week 1. Lakeshore won its game with a strong opening play by quarterback Brody Loudermilk—while coaches noted that turnovers and key defensive plays helped set the stage for a competitive season.
