- ➤ St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office identified Philippe G. Lannelongue, a 58-year-old sailor from Kenner, as the man whose boat crashed into the Causeway early Sunday morning – his drowned body was pulled from Lake Pontchartrain in Tangipahoa Parish on Wednesday. The Times-Picayune
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Slidell football opened its season with a 30—22 win over Lutcher on Sept. 5 at L.V. McGinty Sr. Stadium—Ricky Williams threw for 192 yards and one touchdown while Ja'Kwan Jones rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns; Coach Damon Page said the team improved after a slow start and will work on being more efficient in upcoming games. - ➤ Lakeshore dominated Fontainebleau in a season opener on Sept. 5 as junior quarterback Brody Loudermilk recorded four touchdowns and the defense held Fontainebleau to very few first downs until the fourth quarter—helping the Titans secure a 45-7 win at Titan Coliseum. The strong performance on both offense and defense set a promising tone for the season. The Times-Picayune
- ➤ On Sept. 4, SSA swept Central-BR 25-12, 25-17, 25-11 in their home volleyball season opener as coach Lisa Cardinale earned bragging rights over her sister, first-year coach Amy Rawlins. Cardinale credited her team’s balance and togetherness—key factors in the commanding win that improved the Doves to 2-0. The Times-Picayune
