ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 2-alarm fire on Painters Street on Friday night destroyed one home, damaged three others — displacing at least six residents as officials reported no injuries. WWL-TV
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Starting this month, the St. Tammany Parish Library has launched a new pass program—Check Out Louisiana: Museums—that lets library card holders reserve limited e-passes for museum entry at venues like the WWII Museum, Capitol Park Museum, and Presbytère. Patrons must sign in with their library card and pin, and more attractions will be added soon. The Times-Picayune

- ➤ St. Tammany Parish Library Director Kelly LaRocca will step down at the end of September amid controversy over book content and political pressures. The library board will meet on Sept. 22 to form a committee to review candidates—local religious and political groups have already voiced their concerns. The Times-Picayune

- ➤ Jefferson Parish is hosting Foodie Fest Restaurant Week—running from today through Sept. 13—to offer locals and visitors special menus and discounts from local restaurants. - ➤ In Week 1 of the football season, Slidell beat Luchter by a score of 30 to 22 while Hannan upset their opponent at home. Other local teams including St. Paul’s, Covington and Pearl River had mixed results—setting the stage for competitive play this season. The Times-Picayune
