The Speed Connection event will be held Sept. 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Kent Design Build near Covington — lunch is provided — and the Young Professionals Summit will run Oct. 16 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at The Harbor Center near Slidell. - ➤ James Bowie, a 33-year-old Covington bicyclist, died when his unlit bicycle was struck from behind by a 2019 Chevrolet Blazer on Highway 1081 near Smith Road early Sunday at 12:10 a.m.—the driver showed no signs of impairment and was uninjured. FOX 8

- ➤ Visit the Northshore has partnered with MMGY to create a 10-year master plan for tourism that will guide efforts to boost visitor numbers and local revenue in St. Tammany. The study—gathering input from government officials, civic leaders, and parish residents—will take at least a year with town meetings and surveys, and the Tourist Commission will meet next on Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. at the visitor's center.
